Winter: There are many winter temptations in the mountain. Uzana offers experienced skiers a ski run of 1,200m. For beginners & children there are several shorter, easier runs with mini drag lifts & ski school. Those who love adventure can rent tobbogans, or skidoos, while those who prefer to just observe the white spectacular scenery can use a horse driven sledge.
Summer: If you long for freshness, peace & quiet take a bike & head upwards to the ever changing beauty. See the peaks of Ispolin, Shipka, Bouzloudzha & Mazalat. Follow mountain trails. Horseback & Pony Riding, Children’s Playgrounds & Cool Swimming Pools, can be found in the area.
Veliko Tarnovo
Veliko Tarnovo is one of the most ancient Bulgarian towns. The picturesque situation and panoramic view of the town, its rich cultural and historical heritage wins Veliko Tarnovo the recognition as a historical, cultural and tourist center of contemporary Bulgaria. The town is situated amphitheatrically on 4 hills - Tsarevets, Trapezitsa, Momina Krepost and Sveta Gora, the Yantra river meanders past. Every year the town is visited by thousands of tourists from Bulgaria and from abroad. It is a prime concern of the whole nation to study and preserve the numerous historical and architectural monuments, the rich museums and the museum cultural artifacts.
Uzana Ski Resort
Uzana Ski resort is an amazing discovery. At the foot of the Ispolin Summit at 1420 meters above sea level. A place huddled among venerable oak forests, known as the geographic centre of Bulgaria just 22 kilometers away from the town of Gabrovo. The small and modest mark that shows the real centre of the country is a real attraction for the tourists in this small paradise site.
Uzana ski area is situated on 1300-1400 meters above the sea level and is one of the most beautiful parts of the Balkan Mountain Range (Stara Planina mountain). The site provides great opportunities for snow-sports, mountain and ecological tourism. The nearby situated hut “Uzana” is part of an internatonal walking highway, that reaches the shores of the Black sea. The site provides wonderful conditions for relaxation throughout the year. In winter it is suitable for winter sports and during the summer for mountain hiking, cycling and horse riding. The interest of the tourists is huge and the site is getting more popular. The ski season starts in the middle of December and ends in the beginning of April. The total length of the pistes in the site is 3 kilometers.
Uzana offers a professional ski piste that is 1300 meters long and is equipped with Pomagalski drag. This is the longest piste in the site. Part of the equipment has been built with the support of the Tune town in Switzerland. The beginners can use the other 7- 8 small pistes. Uzana is surrounded by the natural park “Balgarka”, which is famous for its venerable oak forests and miscellaneous animal world.
Uzana can be easy described as a picturesque and huge alp. During the winter the visitors can hire motor sleighs (Skidoos), and have fun in the fluffy snow. Another attraction is the kite flying.
A lot of people from foreign countries come here to combine their vacation in the heart of the Balkan Mountain Range with the typical regional folklore. That is why the local tourist enterprisers offer special courses for foreigners to learn more about the Bulgarian people, customs and culture.
The small hotel - “Geographic centre” is full of tourists all through the year. There are 6-7 other hotels scattered in the region and providing good conditions to relax among the quiet and calm atmosphere of the mountain.
The Uzana site is a real paradise for people who love nature. In the future the local enterprisers plan to build a ski- run piste that will pass trough the natural park “Balgarka”. The surrounding sites of Uzana are suitable for spaleology and rock climbing.
The possibilities for cultural tourism in the region are inexhaustible. In the nearby situated open- air ethnographic museum “Etara” people can learn more about the Bulgarian crafts. The “Sokolovski” monastery is situated just several kilometers away from the Uzana site. The renaissance towns- Bozhenci and Tryavna, which saved their architectural appearance 150 years, are also not far away.

It is attractive with its crystal clear mountain air, quietness and the gifts of nature. It is the starting position of many mountain routes as well as the summits - Shipka and Buzludja.
